Some evenings I'm happiest sitting by my window with a book and a cup of tea. Evenings like this one particularly, interesting clouds are key.

A wanderin' gent getting hennaed. Sudder Street.
As a kid this used to be a favourite thing to do in Shoranur, grind the leaves into a paste with tea liquor, scoop the greenness into a tube and tattoo my arms just to see the bright orange some hours later. I don't know why I don't do it more often.

Sanjoy's shop, a tiny piece of colourfulness in the midst of Sudder Street. Bags and tees and scarves and the loosest flimsiest man-repeller pants this side of a hundred bucks.
Sudder Street may be where all the cool Indiahopping hippies are but Sanjoy's shop is where we wannabe flowerchildren get de garb. And sometimes we discover a cool hippie or two plonked down on the mattress.

Vishwakarma

While walking back home through Jadavpur, a day before Vishwakarma puja. A narrow lane lined on both sides with hundreds of these looking at you, I dare you not to be creeped out.

Chai

When I pointed out the reason for taking this photo the rickshaw wallah grinned fit to burst; he's probably been doing this for years with no one finding it cool. Most rickshaw men are very cool, though, cooler than autorickshaw men.
Forgery

Gariahat more.
A dozen airpunches

A dozen airpunches.

Birdman

I love people who feed birds and animals. Early morning crowman's a bit rabid, however, he was at it for a whole fifteen minutes. Imagine the amount of grain.
